Sunday Class.

Sunday class, 03/22/15

Attendance: 15

Topic: Lent & St. Patrick

Volunteer: Miss Joys Najm & Miss Danielle Mamary

Materials: story of St. Patrick, shamrock worksheet, coloring pages, jelly beans bags, jelly beans prayer, and Hail Mary prayer

We started with Our Father prayer. Then we worked on the jelly beans prayer:

"Red is for the blood He gave.

Green is for the grass He made.

Yellow is for the sun so bright.

Orange is for the edge of the night.

Black is for the sins we made.

White is for the grace He gave.

Purple is for His hour of sorrow.

Pink is for our new Tomorrow."

Each kid chose a bag of his/ her favorite color, Shared the prayer with others and explained what does it mean to us. Kids are supposed to learn the prayer!

Then the kids listened to St. Patrick story and what he did and how he changed from a person who didn't care about God into the most amazing teacher for the word of God where his class was not a room but a whole country – Ireland.

After the story, the kids worked on their shamrock worksheet to make their own. The shamrock is St. Patrick’s tool to teach about the Trinity.

The kids joined the faithful in the Church to take the Holy bread (those who already had their first communion) and the rest to be blessed.

We ended the class with the Hail Mary prayer - which we started it this week.

Thank you,

Taghreed Barakat - Catechism teacher
